When To File An Insurance Claim
If you or someone you’re responsible for has suffered as a result of an accident, then you need to file a claim. If the incident was more of a scare than anything serious, you may not need to file a claim.
Keeping your insurance record “clean” can help keep your rates down, but making the decision to file or not file a claim should not be just focused on whether the claim will harm your insurance program or if you will lose discounts. If you’re having trouble deciding whether you should file a claim or not, we recommend speaking with our team.
How To File An Insurance Claim: Uncomplicating The Insurance Claim Process
As your independent agent, we’ll do our best to make your claim experience a smooth one.
- To begin, please contact the insurance company directly to put them on notice of the claim. We will then be notified of your claim by the insurance company.
- If you have a claim and would like our assistance, we will be happy to speak with you. In most cases, you will need to speak directly with the Insurance Carrier to report the details but we can help to make sure that your claim is processed correctly. Simply contact our team for assistance.
- After your claim is processed, we will follow up with you to ask about your experience and make sure you were treated well.
Do I File A Claim With My Insurance Or Theirs?
File your claim with your insurance company, not the other person’s. Your insurance company represents you, and their insurance company represents them.
How Long Do I Have To File An Insurance Claim?
In general, you should file a claim as soon as possible. In Pennsylvania, there is a 2-year statute of limitations on car accident claims, meaning you have 2 years from the date of the accident to file your claim.
If you think you’re not being treated fairly, need some help along the way, or want to share your positive experience with us, just let us know! We’re always here for you.
