We Understand The Value of Protecting What You’ve Built
You may have noticed our logo, a thistle, which is a tribute to our family history in Scotland and the origin of our founder. In 1968, Jim Robertson left his home in Scotland and came to America with a suitcase and a small amount of savings.
During Jim’s lawful immigration, he chose to enlist in the Army Reserves, where he proudly served this country. Afterward, he began a career in insurance. With his dedication to clients, hard work, and honest, fair dealings, he was able to help found Avis Insurance in 1985.
Thirty years later, our family-owned and -operated agency changed its name as it grew in size to better reflect Jim’s legacy and his impact on how we approach business. Our story is one of many demonstrating the opportunities that can be found every day, no matter how you had to travel to arrive there.
As fellow business owners, we understand the passion that drives you to make your business a success or the importance of protecting the life you’ve worked to build at home. That’s why we take our job of serving clients across Central Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region seriously.
Start your journey to becoming an effective leader
What Path Are You On?
Becoming a leader is a lot like investing successfully in the stock market. If your hope is to make a fortune in a day, you’re not going to be successful. There are no successful “day traders” in leadership development. To become an excellent leader, you need to work at it every day.
More importantly, you need to find the right guide to help you in this process. As a Certified Trainer, Speaker and Coach with the John Maxwell Team, Neil Robertson can help provide clarity for you and your team’s leadership development.
The Robertson Family Foundation
Breaking The Cycle Of Poverty, One Community At A Time.
After visiting the Southeastern African country of Malawi for different teaching and outreach projects, Jim Robertson couldn’t help but feel like there was more he could do to make an impact. The poverty he saw there was hard to forget. Half of Malawi’s population lives below the global poverty line, which means they’re surviving on a $1.90 or less each day.
As a result of his desire to help, the Robertson Family Foundation was formed in 2019. Our Foundation partners directly with community leaders in Malawi to help impoverished communities get the resources they need. That way they can build a better life for themselves and their families. This includes caring for the physical and spiritual needs of the poorest Malawians.
So far, we’ve provided a preschool program for 70 children, literacy classes for all ages, and micro-financing opportunities, which have already empowered twenty-seven women entrepreneurs to start their own businesses. The Foundation also supports the work of twenty-two Malawian pastors and the spiritual work they’re doing to care for their communities. Our goal is to see our impact spread from one community to the next so that everyone there has a chance to build the safe, happy, and healthy life they deserve.
